Light Talks Study Conferences are topic-centric Study Papers presentations between church leaders, influencers & teachers devoted to the maturing, strengthening and inspiring the body of Christ. These Study Papers are  presented as short biblical teachings (usually 18 minutes or less) and usually followed by discussion and or corporate ministry. The Conference often includes, a Q&A panel, practical workshops, some fellowship meal(s), worship and congregational ministry.

Children of Light

We are children of light, or the offspring of truth.  The truth of the manifested goodness of God revealed through the death and resurrection of His son, Jesus and then confirmed and supported by the Holy Spirit in us. We take captive all that is hidden in us making it subject to the conviction and conformation of this living truth in us.  Everything that is exposed to the light of His manifested goodness, then becomes a light in the darkness around us. Exposure to the light reveals the futility of any fruitless deeds until all that remains is truth that liberates the world around us from darkness. We walk as children of light, trying to figure out what is pleasing to God. We are filled with the Holy Spirit, and we encourage and build up one another as we submit ourselves one to another. This is what the prophet Isaiah was talking about in Isaiah 60 when he said “Arise shine for your light has come!” – get up, get active and express the internal reality we live by because by Christ’s example, we have become a light to the darkness around us. Manifesting the light inside us takes on many forms including teaching, exhorting and challenging one another in our pursuit of Christ-likeness.

Light Talks is an opportunity to come together in love and unity to do some critical thinking and conversation, exposing all we do to the light of His truth that we become more fruitful as we learn what is pleasing to Him. The fruit of light consists of all goodness, righteousness and truth.

When we gather together to seek His face, and expose our beliefs and practices to the scrutiny of the word and the Spirit, we grow in strength and courage.

The conference:

This conference will be open to the public and, if possible, will be broadcast live on over the internet and archived as videos on YouTube.

Paper Presentations

The primary activity of the event are presentations of pre-reviewed papers by invited keynote speakers. Each presentation will be a max of 18 min long. It can be expected that a full 8 hour day might include a maximum of 16 different papers on the chosen subject.

Schedule permitting, each speaker may have the opportunity to engage the audience in some impromptu Q&A and or ministry at the end of their presentation.

Peer Review Committee

A peer review committee for each conference will be assembled together and may include all or some of the keynote speakers. The review process is designed to offer feedback and check core doctrines and theologies. We encourage diverse thinking on all subjects, and embrace different perspectives, however there are some basic doctrines we hold to be true

Speaker Panel Q&A

The event will also include a Q&A panel. All the speakers will be invited, but not required to participate. The Q&A will include some pre-defined questions and questions from the audience on a managed open mic.

Corporate Ministry

At the start of every day there will be a time of corporate worship.

At the end of every presentation there is a short opportunity for some prayer, impartation, a call to action, prophecy, or any other type of corporate style ministry as the Spirit leads.

Application

Some presented papers may include an opportunity for the audience to immediately put to practice what they are learning. We encourage all speakers to consider adding a practical application where possible. Application is a proven method to increase subject retention.

Catering

For the duration of the conference, refreshments will be provided and are included in the price of admission.

A fellowship luncheon is also often included as part of the admission.

Product Table

A product table will sometimes be available with curated products relating to the subject and any further study materials that were referred to and or recommended in the paper presentations by the speakers.

Product will be available for a fee, and all proceeds will be allocated to covering the conference expenses.
